Featured Item: Tarot Card Set

Did you know that tarot card set is a pack of playing cards that emerged sometime during the mid-15th century in various parts of Europe to play card games? And in some parts of the world, it is played as common as a game of romme. Interestingly enough, tarot cards weren’t used for divination work until the late 18th century that they were used for divination work. I love the design of the cards I created last month. It’s a set of 5 cards that can be displayed on an altar or become wall art. The World Tarot card represents an ending to a cycle of life, a pause in life before the next big cycle and it is an indicator of a major and inexorable…

What is Mindful Coloring?

What is Mindful Coloring?

Mindful coloring is a very simple concept. It is the art of coloring while practicing mindfulness. Being mindful is all about being in the moment and being engaged and involved in what’s going on around you. The art of mindfulness is lost on so many these days. The presence of cell phones and instant access to the lives of millions of people across the world is so tempting. Many people miss out on the basic pleasures and the simple little things in life because they are so focused on doing more than one thing at a time they have no idea how to be mindful. Adult coloring is here to change that. How is Coloring Mindful? Mindful coloring is simple. You are busy coloring, which…

How to Create Earrings Using the Art of Pyrography

The art of pyrography has been around for a long time and the process of using a heated metal pen to burn images into wood. Tracing the skill of woodburning throughout history, you’ll note that artists through various regions in this world have used this skill to express their creativity not only on wood but also leather, tagua nut, and gourds. And just like the art has evolved so have the tools you use to create a variety of effects just by changing out the tips and even the heat temperature. I started woodburning in 2005 with a solid heated pen you can purchase at your local craft store but quickly upgraded to a temperature-controlled tool for more control. And with the different tips now available you…

5-Months Video Challenge Update

It’s time for a video challenge update and I have recorded, edited, and uploaded 124 videos since February. There are still days where I am not sure what I will talk about, what I want to share, or even how much of my life I want to share. But I started this challenge to not only get more comfortable with recording videos and to be more visible. I know that due to my upbringing and other experiences being seen has been one of my biggest challenges. There have been so many times where I felt or was told I didn’t matter, that what I had to say was stupid or that simply no one wanted to hear what was going on inside of my head….

Crochet Sampler Blanket great for stash busting

Crochet Sampler Blanket great for stash busting

If you are an avid crochet person like myself, then you also probably have a ton of yarn that could go through some stash busting. I currently sitting on 3 totes with yarn that is waiting to become something new. Something that I love for this is a crochet sampler blanket but even if you don’t go through your stash to do this, this kind of blanket is amazing for combining different stitches into something beautiful. This can be a fun challenge to see how many crochet stitches you can master in one blanket or just select a few that you think will look great together! I love trial and error projects since they don’t have to be perfect because they’ll look amazing in the…

Item of the Month: Wood Flame Pyrography Earrings

About a year ago I bought 500 tree slices in different sizes and about a week ago I was inspired to create wearable art. One of the first creations I made is these wood flame pyrography earrings. The small tree slices that measure about .5 inches are perfect for earrings – drill a hole, add a jump ring and an ear wire and voila we are ourselves a pair of earrings. With this pair, I outlined the flames, added some color, and then mod podge before spraying them with polyurethane.

90 Days of Creativity Challenge

90 Days of Creativity Challenge

I love a good challenge and 2021 seems to be full of them for me starting with my video challenge that began in February. But now I am creating 90 Days of Creativity.  Why 90 Days? As someone who has studied goal setting + achieving as well as from personal experiences – 90 days are ideal. They are just long and short enough to make some things happen.  There’s also something to be said about daily rituals about things that we want to do more of and so many things we can learn about ourselves in the process!  I know that your and my imagination are endless – you may think you will run dry but I found that quite the opposite will happen.   There’s…
