Meet August’s Wild Mug Club Mug: Coffee Before Conversation
There are two things you should know about me.
The first is that I’ve been drinking coffee since I was a kid growing up in Germany. The second is that I don’t do much of anything until I’ve had my first cup, as long as you don’t count me taking the dogs outside at 4:45 in the morning.
If you’ve ever tried having a serious conversation with me before coffee, you’ve probably realized I’m simply not ready. My brain wakes up eventually, but it prefers to do so slowly, one sip at a time. I’ve learned to embrace that rhythm instead of fighting it, and somewhere along the way, that little morning ritual became the inspiration for this month’s Wild Mug Club mug.
Introducing Coffee Before Conversation.
Unlike July’s Moonlit Wild Roses, which celebrated the quiet beauty of nature, August’s design leans into another part of who I am: my sense of humor and my unwavering love of coffee. I wanted this month’s mug to make people smile because, let’s be honest, I know I’m not the only one who needs a little caffeine before I’m ready to take on the world.
The black bear felt like the perfect companion for this design. Calm, content, and completely unbothered, he’s happily holding his morning coffee while surrounded by woodland ferns, mushrooms, and late summer wildflowers. If I could describe my ideal morning in one illustration, this would probably be it.
One of the things I’m most excited about with The Wild Mug Club is the freedom to create a collection that reflects both sides of Wild Ridge Studio. Some months you’ll receive detailed botanical and nature-inspired artwork. Other months you’ll unwrap something playful, witty, and just a little relatable. Together, they’ll create a collection that’s as much about personality as it is about art.
One of the promises I made to myself when I created The Wild Mug Club was that every monthly mug should feel truly collectible.
Coffee Before Conversation was created exclusively for Wild Mug Club subscribers and will never be offered for sale as an individual mug in my shop. Once this month’s subscription window closes, this design officially becomes part of the Wild Mug Club archive.
That doesn’t mean you’ll never see this bear again. Individual illustrations or elements from this artwork may find their way onto future products like apparel, art prints, stickers, or stationery. But this complete mug design will remain exclusive to the members who welcomed it into their collection this month.
That’s what makes The Wild Mug Club different.
It’s not about buying another coffee mug. It’s about building a collection of artwork that tells a story over time. Each month introduces a new design, a new inspiration, and another chapter in the collection. Once a mug is archived, it’s gone, making every release a little piece of Wild Ridge Studio history.
