Meet August’s Wild Mug Club Design: Goose in the Wildflowers

Some ideas begin with a detailed plan, and then there are the ones that simply make you smile. This month’s Wild Mug Club design falls into the second category.

Introducing Goose in the Wildflowers, the August mug from The Wild Mug Club.

I’ve been drawn to illustrations that feel calm and inviting. A little whimsical. A little nostalgic. The kind of artwork that makes you pause before taking that first sip of coffee.

This goose wandered into my sketchbook surrounded by soft wildflowers and gentle greenery, and it quickly became one of those designs that seemed to develop a personality all its own. It isn’t in a hurry. It isn’t trying to impress anyone. It’s simply enjoying the journey, one determined little step at a time.

I think there’s something we can all learn from that.

As artists and makers, it’s easy to feel like we always need to be rushing toward the next project, the next launch, or the next goal. But August has always felt like a month that invites us to slow down just a bit. Summer is still here, the gardens are full, and there is beauty in taking the scenic route.

That feeling is what I wanted this illustration to capture.

The Wild Mug Club is my way of creating something special each month. Every design is available for just one month before it’s retired and replaced with a brand new illustration. It’s a growing collection of woodland-inspired artwork that celebrates quiet mornings, cozy rituals, and finding joy in the little things.

If Goose in the Wildflowers speaks to you, now is the time to add it to your collection. Once August comes to an end, this design will waddle off to make room for September’s mug.

Thank you for being part of this journey with me. Whether you’ve been here from the beginning or you’re just discovering Wild Ridge Studio, I’m grateful you’re here.

Here’s to fresh coffee, peaceful mornings, and a goose that reminds us it’s perfectly okay to wander through the wildflowers.
