Stop setting resolutions and have your best year

Stop setting resolutions and have your best year

Resolutions are a crap shoot of setting yourself up for failure.

For years and years, I set resolutions about writing that book, or be more healthy and even have better relationships with people.

And it was only a matter of weeks when all of my resolutions flew out of the window and I was in the same spot as the year before.

I started to doubt that I would ever make my ideas a reality because if I couldn’t even stick to my resolutions, how would I ever have the kind of life that I wanted?

I knew something needed to change and I discovered the most important pieces that were missing!

My Why: I needed something that dug deep into the heart of why I wanted to create the change. Without a solid why, however, I lost my momentum.

My why fuels the purpose of the books I have written and the books I am still planning to write.

My why gives me a reason for my mission to be healthier as it addresses the reasons for changing the food I eat and the motivation to exercise.

My why also helped me uncover the kind of relationships I wanted to have and what they would mean to my overall wellbeing and day-to-day life.

Do you know the why behind the changes you want to create?

If you want to have the best year, then get clear on what you want. Which leads to the next point of my discovery!

My Vision: Without a vision of what I wanted my life to feel like and really visualize what that means, I would continue to get up every morning and exist in the life I had created up to that point.

Writing out my vision for my life and then narrow it down to the year, I was able to uncover who I wanted to be, what I wanted to do and what I wanted to have.

And before I knew it, the vision not only became a wee bit bigger than myself, but I know had a map that I could use to develop my goals from.

Goals have a much greater impact than resolutions.

What is the vision you have for your life and how can you start towards this vision now?

There is a sweet spot for goals setting and it’s right in between short-term and long-term. Resolutions tend to be rather short-term and again without the why I found that nothing would change.

And setting lifetime goals can feel too far out of reach. So why write your visions?

So you can break them down!

You don’t build a house overnight, nor do you travel across the country in a car in one day.

Change occurs in small incremental steps.

And when you write your vision for the next year, allow your intuition to guide you. Don’t listen to the negative voices in your head or allow the judgment of others filter into your thoughts.

Instead, give yourself permission to dream uncensored.

This means that your vision includes everything you want to be, do and have interests, with passion, healthier you and better relationships – or whatever calls you!

So just how did this process change my life?

The moment I wrote out my vision, I was able to see who I wanted to become, the things I wanted to do and the things I wanted to have in my life. And when I am talking about “having” I am not just talking about material things.

So it looks like this:

  1. Write the vision. You can start with a whole life vision and then the year, or just the year. Don’t forget to include all the reasons why and how you will feel at each moment your vision comes true.
  2. Choose Be, Do and Have Goals based on your vision. And yes you may have left something off of your vision, that’s okay! You can rewrite your vision if you want to!
  3. Create 90-Day actions plans for each goal. Start with the goal and then brainstorm all the steps required to complete the goal.
  4. Tune into your intuition of when during the year this would feel really amazing. And usually, the thing that gets you most excited is THE goal to start with.

Some key points for you:

This is YOUR vision and not someone else’s and you’re going to need to be okay with the side eye from friends and family.

Your vision may change just tap back into that part that gives you purpose and motivation. Sometimes you may need to rewrite your vision until you get to the point of OMG THIS IS IT!

You will doubt yourself and your ability to achieve your goals. This is normal but don’t feed the fears!

The moment you decide to stop setting resolutions

Will create a ripple effect in all areas of your life.

When you know who you want to be, you become that person.

When you know what to do you will stop the procrastination dilemmas.

When you know what you want to have and why you will give your life purpose.

Are you willing to stop setting resolutions and allow yourself to set goals that are driven by your intuition and recognize that you have a bigger purpose in life?

It’s here! My New Book – Forge your own Path, One goal at a time

It’s here! My New Book – Forge your own Path, One goal at a time

You, me and everyone else in this world have a vision!

The challenge?

Falling into the abyss of doing it like everyone else because it’s what you “should” do. But what if you could create your vision, bring it to life without falling into the dark hole of conformity?

Forging your own path is a framework to read, learn and mold from. It’s part of the blueprint that you use to map out the adventure of a lifetime. It’s knowing that even the best laid out plans, sometimes fail. It’s embracing the challenges and detours along the way.

But it is not the know it all answer to solving your problems, another possible solution to forging your own path. More than anything else, it’s becoming who you are, by undoing who you think you should be. It’s defining your own rules and follow your own ideas because that next one could change your life.

I wrote, “Forge your own Path” not only because this is what I have been doing most of my life without even knowing this is what I did. You see, I tried to be the 1950’s housewife, the model employee and even the picture perfect mother.

And every fiber of my being told me it was all wrong.

Forging your own path isn’t easy, but I do believe you will agree with me when I say, it will totally be worth it!

This book emerged onto the horizon on accidental purpose. I am knee deep into my first fiction book that I am writing, and without fail, more book ideas have been inspired by it all. I struggled for awhile to write this book only to realize that I had started this book with a different title back in February. So anyway, here it is… words unleashed into the world once again!

I could really use your help. Below you will find quick and easy ways you can help spread the word about the new book Forge your own Path.

Thanks so much for your help!

Stop talking about the things you will do and start making them happen

Stop talking about the things you will do and start making them happen

We all have fallen into the trap of saying “one day I will” because the reality is that “one day” will never actually materialize into existence.

It’s so much easier to say “one day” instead of actually starting right here this minute.

And if you keep saying “one day” do you actually really want this thing to come into your reality?

Truth is that taking action towards the dream you have is no small feat because the doubts and fears and your ego will tell you that you

  • are not good enough
  • don’t have what it takes
  • you will lose your friends

It’s so much easier to stay in the box of conformity and safety among your family and friends than actually standing up for what you want and what you believe in.

But you aren’t embracing who you are and you are denying the world of your skills and talents, and that’s a damn shame.

Because you are powerful being full of ideas, skills, and talents and how dare you do not stand and embrace it all?

If you want to write that book, start a business, change your life, you need to do something about it. Because let’s face it you can’t wait for “one day” and then lay on your death bed and regret that you didn’t make it happen.

How would your life change if you decided to take action today?

What kind of impact could you have if you decided that today is the day you take the first step?

I have created the vision quest to help you take that first teeny tiny step.

  • Take the Vision Quest and give yourself permission to map out the direction of your dreams so you can create the life you want!
  • Conquer your Thoughts and Beliefs and change them so you can rid yourself of sabotage.
  • The confidence boost to help you get a perspective on who you are and the people that have always supported you!
  • Decide which Be, Do and Have Goal you are going to make happen in the next 90 Days!
  • Create your action plan and know exactly the steps you will take to achieve your be, do and have goal!
Tip for creating your own path

Tip for creating your own path

Similar to motherhood or parenthood, forging your own path isn’t for the faint of heart.

You have to ask yourself if you want to keep living in a box or if you are with 100% certainty okay with going against the status quo.

I see this phenomenon all the time and you’ve seen it too. Here are some examples:
Orange is the New Black, 50 Shades of Grey and yes even with Twilight. And I totally could go on and on about this.

But you know it’s totally okay to not ever read a single Harry Potter book or watch a Lord of the Rings movie.

I think the fear of not being liked because you don’t have a molecule of interest in any of those things, maybe at times greater than we like to admit too. And I get it.

I drank because I thought it was cool to do and it helped me fit in, nevermind the fact I didn’t really like myself.

And here is my one single tip for you:

Turn down the noise.

Turn it all off, the people, the TV, the radio, the social media – everything that’s literally interfering in not only stepping who you are but being in that truth of your soul being.

Get the journal or a piece a paper and your pen and start writing what YOUR path looks like.

Clarity creates vision and vision creates purpose. Click To Tweet

Write it all out. The work you do, the love you feel and with whom. The joys you are experiencing, the impact you are having – even just for yourself. The truth you stand for and the emotions that in intent to invoke within you and therefore the people around you.

And as you are getting super clear with who you are, what you are about and what this life means to you, know that your boundaries will be pushed, obstacles will rise and you’ll want to quit and squish yourself into that little box of conformity.

Don’t!

Stay in the room, feel the feelings, and keep forging your path ahead.

How to set goals that matter

How to set goals that matter

You have set goals but you are struggling to get it all done.

And the problem: The goal sucks and it doesn’t light you up.

And the other problem: you try to stick it out instead of making a new decision.

There is this illusion that once we set a goal, shared it with someone, we can’t change the goal. That we must follow through with the what we said we’d do. And that if we don’t follow through we are considered flakes.

Well, let me just say that anytime a goal doesn’t light you up, that you just can’t get into the mojo of getting anything done, it needs a good looking at.

If you want to set goals that light you up, know your “why”. But not just the basic “oh because of x, y and z”. Sometimes that why can bring you to tears, and at the very least it will move you emotionally. Your goal will give you something and I am not talking materialistic something. I am talking the feeling you will receive for achieving your goal.

So, if you are in a spot where you are procrastinating, finding it hard to take another step towards your goal, take a pen and paper and write out why you want this to happen and what you will get out of this.

This is the moment where listening to your heart will matter more than listening to your mind. Listen in such a way that your heart will start to skip a beat, your belly is filled with butterflies and you are grinning from ear to ear with maybe a tear falling down your face.

If your goal doesn’t excite you just a little, it’s always a good time to reflect. And yes, you have permission to change your mind anytime you want. You don’t owe an explanation to anyone. You don’t need to justify yourself to anyone.

You just need to live your life according to your rules and that means doing things that you love and light you up.

Now there will be some aspects that may suck huge donkey balls, but if just a small part of your goal gives you the butterflies, it is still worth pursuing.
